You are bidding on a used Santa Cruz Nomad frame. The frame includes the Float R shock and an FSA Headset. If you are looking at this auction, then you probably already know why the Santa Cruz Nomad is such a hot bike, so I’ll spare you the sales pitch, except to say, “this bike ROCKS!”
The frame is used. I do not want to minimize this fact. I’ve posted several photos to try to give you an accurate feel for the condition of the frame. There is cable rub, there are scratches and dings. No structural damage, but there are cosmetic flaws. Having said that, to me the photos make the frame look worse than it does in person, camera flashes can exaggerate such things. At any rate, if you expect the frame to look in person like it looks in these photos, you’ll most likely be pleasantly surprised at how good it looks once you’ve added your components to make her ride-ready. Also, you’ll see in the photos that I wrapped the drive-side chain-stay with a strip of rubber and black electrical tape. It doesn’t look terrific, but it completely eliminates chain rub in this area. I didn’t install it from the beginning, so there are some chain scuffs under the rubber. If you like it, leave it, if you hate it, strip it off and put on a Lizard Skinz protector… your call.
The bike rode well this fall when I last had it out. I can’t comment on how much life might be left in the bearings, but she did ride smoothly. The frame will ship with the Float R shock installed unless you pay an additional $60 above the auction close price. If you email me to let me know you want the DHX 5 Air, AND you add $60 to the paypal transfer, I’ll happily install the DHX and ship it that way.
The Float R shock has never been serviced, but I bought it as a backup to the DHX and have only had it for maybe a year and a half. It looks and rides like new.
The DHX has been relatively recently serviced by Fox. Recently in miles, not time. Its been about a year, but the DHX has probably only been on 8-10 rides since the service. This is due to the fact that once I put the Float R on (so I could keep riding while the DHX was being shipped off for service) I found that the bike rode really, really well. When the DHX was returned, I just left it sitting in the box because I didn’t want to bother swapping it back and setting it up. The bike rides terrific with either shock, but the DHX does have a much more customizable ride.
The FSA Headset is installed and I’ve zip-tied it to the frame so everything will arrive in place and in the right order.
